The Mountaineer 2025 Pinot Noir Rosé pays homage to the pioneering spirit and sense of adventure displayed by mountain climbers confronting the forces of nature and celebrating the beauty and grandeur of the New Zealand Southern Alps. The preparation, passion and commitment are necessary to grow and make wines in Central Otago mirror the challenges faced by these pioneering mountaineers.
Crafted with 100% Pinot Noir Grapes, harvested from Central Otago.
A lovely pale pink hue with a nose of mandarin pith, fennel, watermelon and cherry blossom. The palate is lively with lots of fruit and a nervy acidity to balance the slight sweetness. Ample watermelon, red cherry and red citrus fruit flavours, followed by a slightly savoury finish making it a refreshing and very drinkable wine.
The Mountaineer Rosé 2025 captures the Summer in Central Otago in a bottle.

Tasting Notes

It's finely scented on the nose, showing cranberry, ripe strawberry, Gala apple, and lemon peel nuances, followed by a vibrant palate that's juicy and lingering. Beautifully composed and styled with a lingering, refreshing finish. At its best: now to 2028. March 2026.

Bright, even, pale blush pink. The nose is full, packed with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, stonefruit and rose petals. Medium-light bodied, aromas of strawberry, nectarine and raspberry melded with rose petals and a touch of black pepper. The fruit is vibrant and pure, with zingy acidity that carries a salivating finish. Serve as an aperitif or match with prawn tempura over the next 3 years. Fermented to 13% alc. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Mar 2026 RRP $24.50

Pale onion-skin. A retrained nose with tart aromas of cranberry and thyme leading to an equally restrained palate with crisp acidity and a dry finish framing the smoky strawberry and cinnamon flavours. This is currently closed and youthfully austere; give it a few more months to unfold and enjoy over the near-term as it gains weight and expressiveness.
