MOUNT MICHAEL PINOT NOIR 2022
MOUNT MICHAEL PINOT NOIR 2022
The winemaking process saw 60% whole bunch fermentation with minimal plunging, allowing for a delicate extraction of flavours. A natural ferment, including malolactic fermentation, unfolded over 18 days on skins, imparting depth and complexity. Following gentle pressing, the wine matured gracefully in oak, 20% of which was new, lending subtle hints of vanilla and spice. Bottled in March 2023, unfined and unfiltered, it captures the essence of its terroir with purity and finesse, inviting you to savour each sip with reverence.
The 2022 Mount Michael Pinot Noir has bright florals, red cherry and dried herbs on the nose. Rich and concentrated on the palate which has spice, red berries and plum. Medium body with lovely texture, fruit is balanced by chalky tannins. Enhanced by a mineral acid line brings it all together.
Drinking beautifully now, but you will be rewarded with further cellaring.

A lovely bouquet of bright light red fruits of cherry and raspberry then scents of red blossoms and white spice, an fine earthy seam through the core and quiet voice of oak with a light spice and vanilla quality. Fleshy and equally fruity on the palate with fine tannins and balanced acid line. The core fruit flavours of light red fruits are persistent framed by the tannin and acid line structure. Well made, dry and nice moderate finish.
Best drinking from late 2025 through 2032+.

Fine-grained, medium-bodied pinot noir with red cherry, yellow-fleshed plum and peppery tannins balanced by subtle sweetness giving a pleasantly dry finish. Accessible now but with moderate cellaring potential.
