The Long Lunch That was...

  • Our Beautiful Mount Michael Wines Long Lunch

On the 10th of April we held our first Mount Michael Wines Golf Classics long lunch.

Hosted at the divine premises of Penny Black Cocktail Bar the scene was set for a beautiful afternoon. With the weather only just behaving and a quick venue change from Drystone Winery in the Gibbston Valley to Penny Black Cocktail bar our Mount Michael Wine guests sat down to a three course meal matched perfectly with Mount Michael wines and created by the renowned Moreish Kitchen.

Upon arrival guests were served three different canapes paired with Mount Michael Wines Pinot Gris and Mount Michael Wines Pinot Noir Rose. With three cheese arancini balls, Pork belly bites and fresh fig with prosciutto making their way around the room, Mount Michael Wines guests were soon discovering that their pallets were in for an unforgettable afternoon.

  • As the guests sat round the beautifully decorated dining table the first course was delivered, paired with the Mount Michael Wines Chardonnay and the Pinot Gris. The seared scallops with strawberry salsa and mint danced across the plate. Taste explosions started to happen and every guest was left wanting more.

Course two, the main. Themed around the Mount Michael Pinot Noir 2021 the Beef Fillet was cooked to perfection, melting in the mouth and setting off the aromatic tones of the Pinot. Accompanied by Cauliflower puree, Slow roast shallots and seared oyster mushrooms with Pinot Jus, the main only created more excitement about the excellence of the wine and it’s over powering aromas coming from the glass.

  • Course three was a highly anticipated Chocolate Panna Cotta, and it was Bessie’s Blocks time to shine. The clever chef from Moreish Kitchen had poached some very lucky plums in this liquid gold. Served in an elegant stemless wine glass the juicy plums were then covered with the Chocolate Panna Cotta, a hint of Mascarpone Cream and a Moreish Crumb. Paired with a glass of Bessie’s Block to sip and savour while enjoying this dessert, this course was definitely one of the high lights.

And so the lunch drew to a close, where our guests were left feeling full, content and happy.

Guests were welcomed to purchase bottles of their favourite drops, and as the last of the people trickled out of the door, the event manager, MyAgency and the Mount Michael Wines team were left feeling happy and satisfied that the very first Mount Michael Wines Long Lunch went off without a hitch.

The Mount Michael long lunch of 2025 is promised to be grander and even more delectable then the first one.
