The MMW Central Otago Autumn Golf Classic played from April 4 has been tremendously successful with absolutely brilliant weather the five days.
Mount Michael has been major sponsor for the last fourteen years and again Peter Robbie played in the field but also organised a post match putting contest with ancient hickory putters. This was a real hoot out on the practice green with everyone enjoying drinks, cheering the players while the organisers collated scores especially on the final day at Cromwell.
300 players rotated through each of the five courses with Arrowtown again said to be the most enjoyable. Queenstown and Wanaka the most spectacular, Cromwell the most improved and that unheralded jewel of the south Alexandra never in better condition with brilliant Autumn colours.
The tournament is owned by the five clubs and very capably managed by ParNZ. The even normally attracts up to 500 players but impacted this year with players unable to fly in from all over the world to participate. Next year we look to be in the position to welcome back our International Guests to the field.
Congratulations to all the prize winners but the consensus is everyone who got to play was a winner with great camaraderie on and off the course.
