The Mountaineer Pinot Noir pays homage to the pioneering spirit and sense of adventure displayed by mountain climbers confronting the forces of nature and celebrating the beauty and grandeur of the New Zealand Southern Alps. The preparation, passion and commitment are necessary to grow and make Pinot Noir in Central Otago mirror the challenges faced by these pioneering mountaineers.

Crafted with premium Central Otago Pinot Noir. Included some whole bunch and extended time on skins with gentle plunging before maturation in barrel.

Ripe dark plums, cherries, violets and spice lead into a wine brimming with ample concentrated fruit flavours of red cherries and raspberries on the palate complimented by soft spices and toasty oak influence. Long to finish with bright acidity and soft ripe tannins.

Reviews

Sam Kim - Wine Orbit 5 -Stars / 93 points

Sweetly ripe and inviting, the bouquet shows red cherry, raspberry, mushroom, clove and toasted almond notes, followed by a finely expressed palate that's succulent and rounded. It's plump and silky with a lingering soothing finish, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2027.

Candice Chow - Raymond Chan Wines - 93 points -

Bright, ruby-red, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is gently full, with spice aromas overlying black raspberry, cherry, pepper and herbs. Medium-bodied, aromas of black raspberry, strawberry and cherry melded with thyme black pepper and a subtle hint of earth. The fruit is vibrant and juicy, supported by lively acidity. Ripe, smooth tannin lightly framed the fruit and unfolding spice and earthy elements linger to a sustained finish. Match with pork shops and duck over the next 3-4 years.
